PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — It was a shocking moment last week at Portland International Airport when a person passed through security with a meat cleaver in their carry-on bag.
It wasn’t until the person was on board their flight departing PDX on Thursday that the meat cleaver was found, prompting all passengers to be rescreened out of caution.
“We take this matter very seriously. We are reviewing the incident, and once we determine the circumstances surrounding this event, we will take appropriate corrective action that could include additional training of the security screening workforce,” a spokesperson for the Transportation Security Administration told KOIN 6 News.
