Daughter of couple who died in fiery Rainbow Bridge crash files lawsuit against carmakers

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — The daughter of a couple who died in a fiery crash on the Rainbow Bridge in 2023 has filed a lawsuit against the carmakers.

According to News10NBC’s affiliate in Buffalo, the lawsuit accuses Bentley Motors and Volkswagen of producing a car with defective parts. It also claims the car, driven by Kurt and Monica Villani, lacked a brake override for its electronic throttle.

Video from November 2023 showed the car launching into the air and crashing into a customs booth, igniting a major fire. The Villanis, who were from Grand Island, died in the crash. No one else was injured…
