The Cumberland City Board of Mayor and Aldermen met at City Hall November 6 with all members present. First on the agenda, Chelsea Stall said there is an Airbnb housing seven to nine men, she said she’s uncomfortable and they make her children uncomfortable because they sit on their porch drinking and smoking. She wondered if there are regulations in place vetting the renters. “I’m very uncomfortable with the situation, then there’s an RV in the backyard, someone is living in it,” Stall said.
Additionally, she said they have dogs off leash and they have attacked her dogs multiple times. Stall said one of her dogs has had to have surgery after two of the attacks. She said the homeowner paid for the surgeries. “However, there still are dogs over there. I just saw one of them down at the bottom of the hill today. I don’t know, who knows if they have their rabies shots and everything else. So I’m just wondering if there’s anything we can do about it? And the groundsman likes to talk about how he likes to rescue fighting dogs. I wonder if there’s something that they could do or we could do to ensure that those dogs are not going to get out and attack my kids and everybody else in this town?” Mayor Phil Taylor said he was going to look into Stall’s issues and asked Stall to come to next month’s meeting.
Next, Robert Spencer addressed the board. I just wanted to point out, the street next to our house, Wallace Road, between Wallace Road and McCracken, the road is like 16 feet wide or close to it halfway. And then when it reaches the hill, it suddenly shrinks by four feet. So it’s only 11 1/2, 12 feet wide going down that hill, which isn’t wide enough for two cars to go by side by side. Because that shrinkage is right on the hill, you don’t know if something is about to come at you. That’s the only section of that road that is narrow. It’s just narrow until it gets to McCracken and then it opens up again. I guess there’s going to be some new houses built on the corner of Wallace and McCracken. So that’s going to add more traffic, because we have a school bus that comes down that hill too. Taylor said he would look into the issue to see what could be done…
