Hicksville Resident Cole Dockery Faces New State Lawsuit Over Alleged Business Scheme

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost has filed a lawsuit in Defiance County against Cole Dockery, a resident of Hicksville. Dockery operates Ecommerce Business Builders (EBB). The lawsuit accuses Dockery and EBB of violating Ohio law. Allegations include accepting significant down payments, making misleading statements, and not providing promised services. Seven consumers have filed complaints. The disputed amount totals more than $142,000.

Dockery and his previous company, National Anglers Association, were also investigated by the Attorney General’s office. In January 2024, Dockery admitted to four violations of Ohio’s Consumer Sales Practices Act. These included not delivering goods and making false statements. He agreed to pay over $8,000 in restitution and penalties.

The current lawsuit claims Dockery violated the Business Opportunity Purchasers Protection Act (BOPPA). EBB advertised business opportunities on social media. The offers included investments between $6,700 and $32,100. EBB said it would help set up online stores and market products.
