Regional: 3 Fremont Men Arrested By Sonoma County Deputies On Suspicion Of Scam

Three men that the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office suspects of scamming older people out of their valuables were arrested on suspicion of multiple crimes, authorities said.

An alleged victim in Sonoma County told law enforcement that they had been defrauded of over $450,000 in cash and gold by a phone scam, the Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

The scammer posed as a government agent and convinced their mark that their bank accounts had been hacked. The Sheriff’s Office said it was aware of such scams, and began working with the victim to set up the criminals in a sting…
