NAPLES, FL — Detroit Pizza Joint Naples is preparing to open inside Shell Plaza, also known as Town Market, at 7770 Preserve Ln, Naples, FL 34119, owner Todd Stern told Business Debut. The restaurant will occupy the former restaurant space in the multi-tenant complex, which includes a gas station, post office, dry cleaner and hand car wash.
What to Expect
Guests will enter through either of the building’s two main doors, with the restaurant located to the left of the convenience store area. Detroit Pizza Joint Naples will offer seating for about 16 guests inside. The operation will focus on carryout, delivery and catering to nearby neighborhoods and the high school across the street. Stern plans to add outdoor patio seating in a later phase.
Menu and Vision
The menu will center on Detroit-style pizza made from a recipe Stern developed over five years as a tribute to classic Detroit pizzerias. He described the pizza as having a caramelized cheese crust, a light, airy interior and a red sauce over the top, along with options for white pizzas with garlic sauce and toppings like caramelized onions.
Detroit Pizza Joint will also serve Detroit-themed items including Detroit Coney chili dogs with a bean-less Coney sauce, garlic dip with garlic knots made from pizza dough, Caesar and antipasto salads, and made-from-scratch desserts. Dessert offerings will include hot fudge sundaes inspired by a historic Michigan chocolate company, as well as cookies, toffee bars and pastries.

Stern is an award-winning chef and restaurateur whose earlier notoriety began in Detroit with the introduction of tapas-style dining at his restaurant Small Plates. The concept was covered by Crain’s Detroit Business, which included Stern on its 40 Under 40 list in connection with that project.
