Woman admits to starting fire inside Nashville apartment, police say

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A woman admitted to starting a fire inside her Nashville apartment, which activated the fire suppression system and caused flooding inside the apartment building.

Crews with the Nashville Fire Department and officers with the Metro Nashville Police Department responded to Chippington Towers II in Madison on Sunday.

When police arrived, NFD advised officers that the woman believed to have started the fire was sitting on a bench in front of the building. When officers spoke to the woman, she admitted to starting the fire by pouring hot grease on her couch and lighting a pillow on fire, according to an arrest affidavit…
