Leesburg grandmother arrested after refusing to roll down heavily tinted car window

A Leesburg woman was arrested for resisting arrest after refusing to roll down her windows during a traffic stop.

An officer spotted 50-year-old April Laquisa Coleman driving a gray Dodge Challenger with what looked like excessively dark window tint around 8 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. She also did not completely stop at the stop signs at two intersections on Waitman Avenue, leading to a traffic stop in the Century Link parking lot, located at 501 McCormack St.

Since the windows were too dark to see inside, the officer asked Coleman to roll them down. Nothing happened, so he loudly repeated himself multiple times with no response. He even used a PA system without the windows coming down, the report said.

It was not until Coleman’s juvenile grandson went up to the vehicle that she rolled down the front passenger window. The officer commanded he back away, and Coleman instructed him to leave so he would not see her “act a fool.” After he left, she cursed at the officer and rolled the window back up, the report said…
