Trash trouble: Garbage chutes clogged for weeks at Park Square Apartments, residents say

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Residents of Park Square Apartments in Rochester have been dealing with a significant trash problem. News10NBC received a call about the trash backup and found garbage piled high, clogging the garbage chute.

Jacquelyn Holley, a resident of 14 years who is legally blind and uses a walker, said the situation has been going on for months. “This morning I couldn’t get down the hallway because the garbage was sitting out,” Holley said. “I couldn’t fit down there with my walker, or I didn’t see it all because of my vision. So I had to move that out of the way myself. Disgusting.”

On a scale of 1 to 10, Holley described the stench as a 12; explaining that while the trash is cleaned up every few weeks, it accumulates quickly in the 17 story building. “[The garbage] hasn’t been emptied in a week,” Holley said, adding she’s tried multiple times to contact the front office regarding the issue, but has been unsuccessful…
