OCCU donation drive aids families hit by SNAP benefits loss

EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon Community Credit Union is stepping up to aid Oregonians impacted by the temporary loss of SNAP benefits. They are calling on the community for support.

The OCCU is matching donations up to $50,000 for its “OCCU Foundation Feeding Families Fund.” This initiative partners with local food banks and organizations to distribute the funds to those in need.

“A couple of weeks ago, OCCU decided to throw out a challenge to our community and match the first 50,000 dollars that could be raised for our Feeding Families Fund,” Brian Alfano, chief operations officer of OCCU, said. “Food right now is very scarce for a lot of folks that are out there, and food insecurity is a big thing, and we wanted to make sure we could do something to help give back to our communities and make an impact.”…
