A 78-year-old driver has been ticketed after the car he was driving was struck by a train as he attempted to complete a U-turn near train tracks in Upstate New York.
Most drivers are well aware that there are certain locations on a road where you need to exercise extreme caution, including intersections, crosswalks, and roundabouts. There are also specific areas where drivers should never attempt to complete an illegal U-turn, including anywhere near a railroad crossing.
Train Slams Into Car in Upstate New York
According to a post on the Albany County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) Facebook page, that’s exactly what happened over the weekend at a railroad crossing in Voorheesville, NY, that led to a train crushing a car for almost a full mile.
It all started just before 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 15th, 2025, when the Sheriff’s Office was called to respond to a car versus train incident near Voorheesville Avenue in Albany County, NY.
Illegal U-Turn Led to Accident
