Man pleads guilty to drone prison smuggling attempt

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) — An Akron man pleaded guilty Tuesday to attempting to smuggle drugs and electronics into Trumbull Correctional Institution.

Joshua Ledford, 45, pleaded guilty to an attempted possession of cocaine felony, an attempted conveyance of drugs into a prison facility and a misdemeanor illegal conveyance of electronic devices into a prison.

Judge Sarah T. Kovoor referred to Ledford’s offenses as the “drone case,” where prosecutors stated he attempted to fly a drone into the Trumbull Correctional Institution. The drone contained more than 10 grams of cocaine and a cell phone, according to a release from the prosecutor’s office…
