A house fire caused considerable damage to a residence in Vass on Tuesday morning. The fire broke out on Mc Leod Street in Vass and resulted in a massive response from local fire departments.
According to fire officials, a 911 call was received shortly after 9 a.m. reporting that one of the bedrooms within the house was on fire. When firefighters arrived, they encountered heavy flames and thick smoke coming from the front and sides of the home. The fire quickly extended into the attic, producing more heat and smoke.
Authorities on scene told Sandhills Sentinel that the home’s single occupant escaped without injuries.
A second alarm was initially requested, but crews were able to establish water from a nearby fire hydrant and canceled additional response. Firefighters reported finding numerous combustibles and flammable materials in the house, which could have contributed to the rapid spread of the flames…
