Southern Orchards, a satsuma farm in West Mobile, says they fared better than many growers this year. However, they’re still feeling the impact of winter weather.
Last fall, the trees at Southern Orchards were full, with branches heavy and covered in bright orange fruit. This year, owner Chad Thornburg told News 5 the orchard now tells a different story.
“Last year we had more fruit than we could get rid of,” said Thornburg.
“We sold more fruit than we ever had, and we still have more left than we ever had. So, it’s quite the extreme,” he continued…
