PENSACOLA, Fla. — For the past nine months, red light cameras have been capturing images of cars driving through red lights. Since February, Mayor D.C. Reeves reveals more than 26,000 red-light traffic citations have been written.
The cameras were supposed to make intersections safer. The city says the intersection of 9th Avenue and Gregory Street continues to be the worst, netting the most violations.
The goal of these red light cameras was to cut down on people running the red light. That’s not happening. Mayor Reeves says even with red light cameras in place, the number of drivers running red lights hasn’t changed…
