True North Church is a large and growing Mullica Hill-based church, and it is expanding its South Jersey presence with an additional location, redeveloping a former Sears department store in Cumberland County into its Vineland Campus.
The project for the second True North Church location was approved by the Vineland Planning Board late in the summer and is expected to see the church renovate the 38,000-square-foot former Sears department store into a church and community space.
Located on Delsea Drive at Landis Avenue for over 65 years, the large corner building at the busy intersection was developed as a Sears department store. It had been expanded over the years… sadly, it closed in 2017.
Since that Sears department store closing, the building has been empty, with Community leaders and others seeking opportunities to use the space.
I was in Vineland over the weekend and saw that the construction fencing had already been placed around the building. My drone images show what appears to be a variety of patching work taking place on the building’s roof. Ahead of what will be a larger remodel of the space into a modern and more functional Church facility…
