Believed to be the first conviction of its kind in Massachusetts, a Dracut doctor has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter after illegally prescribing opioids that prosecutors say caused the death of an at-risk patient.
Richard Miron, 83, ranked as the largest provider of “high dose, short acting oxycodone prescriptions” among all MassHealth providers in the state between Sept. 2015 and Feb. 2016, according to the Attorney General’s Office.
