H-E-B Donates $75,000 to Corpus Christi Meals on Wheels, Largest Gift in Program’s History

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The City of Corpus Christi’s Meals on Wheels program is receiving its largest single donation to date — a $75,000 grant from H-E-B that city officials say will help provide thousands of meals to seniors.

The donation is part of a $1 million statewide giving effort by the grocer. Beth Dattomo, H-E-B’s senior manager of public affairs, said supporting the city’s program is a way to meet a growing need during a time of year when many older residents feel the strain most.

“So we’re thrilled we were able to make a one million gift to our communities throughout the state of Texas in the last few weeks and for $75,000 of that gift to come to Corpus Christi Meals on Wheels and really just being a part of this initiative day in day out providing hot meals to our seniors that need it,” she said. “And during this special time of the year it’s needed more than ever. And so we’re really really happy that the city would accept our gift and this give this to a community in need.”…
