In McKinney, Texas, a group of 38 women has marked a significant chapter of their lives at the Collin County Detention Facility, having completed a program that’s designed to help them rebuild and reform post-incarceration. The program, named Cornbread Hustle, is a part of the IGNITE initiative—Inmate Growth Naturally and Intentionally Through Education—a national scheme by the National Sheriffs’ Association aimed at reducing recidivism and aiding in a smoother transition back into society through educational and vocational training.
