Ahead of a council meeting where he plans to introduce an ordinance to recreate the Lafayette Mardi Gras commission, City Council Chair Kenneth Boudreaux has published a list of requests to Lafayette Consolidated Government regarding the costs of changing the parade route to go down Jefferson Street.
“We are involved because we are supposed to be involved. Council involvement is not new,” Boudreaux wrote in a Facebook post. Mayor-President Monique Boulet, who announced plans to change the route earlier this month, previously stated that it was not a matter of council jurisdiction, causing friction between her and the council chair.
