Survey Finds Most Oklahoma City Residents Feel City Is Headed in the Right Direction

A recent annual survey by the ETC Institute in July 2025 shows that many Oklahoma City residents have a positive view of their community. The survey found that 72% of respondents think the city is moving in the right direction. This is about 30% higher than the national average for large cities. The survey included responses from 1,283 residents. City leaders use the results to help set priorities and make funding decisions for city projects and services.

According to the survey, 80% of residents rated Oklahoma City as an excellent or good place to live. About 73% said it is a good place to work, and 66% said it is a good place to raise children. Residents identified several areas for improvement over the next two years. These include the condition of city streets (75%), the homelessness response system (51%), and traffic flow (36%). City Manager Craig Freeman noted that more than $1.5 billion has been allocated to street improvements through the 2025 bond. He also mentioned efforts to address homelessness, such as the Key to Home Partnership.

Customer service from city employees received positive feedback. About 61% of residents said they were satisfied. Among those who contacted the city in the past year, satisfaction ranged from 63% to 74% for helpfulness, accuracy of information, and response time.
