Illinois board approves sale of Rockford hospital to Kingdom Authority Church

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board has voted to approve the sale of Mercyhealth’s former Rockton Avenue hospital to the Kingdom Authority Church.

The former Rockford Memorial Hospital was closed in July, and the property was purchased by Melvin and Sheila Brown, pastors of Kingdom Authority Church, on September 3rd.

The property exchanged hands for one dollar, despite a fair market value of over $12 million, as Mercyhealth CEO Javon Bea said the company was unable to find a buyer…
