Metrobus tackles fare evasion with ‘Tap. Ride. Go.’ program, but challenges remain

WASHINGTON (7News) — On Tuesday, for the first time, all Metrobus riders had the option of paying with a credit or debit card.

Metro introduced a program called ‘Tap. Ride. Go.’ for Metrorail in late May, but until Tuesday, riders were supposed to pay for Metrobus using other methods.

Now Metrobus riders can either tap a credit or debit card, or use a smartphone or a watch that is linked to a credit or debit card. Riders can still use a SmarTrip card to ride the bus or pay in cash using exact change…
