ACLU pushes DC to invest in youth programs to curb teen crime

WASHINGTON (7News) — As D.C. leaders search for new ways to address rising teen crime, a new report from the ACLU of D.C. is urging the city to shift its focus from policing to increased investment in youth programs, mentoring, and community support.

The organization said early intervention — not enforcement — is key to preventing crime before it happens.

The release of the report comes the same week Councilmember Brooke Pinto rolled out her new “Prosper DC Plan,” a package of proposals aimed at supporting teens and young adults through expanded job pathways, housing stability, and targeted community resources…
