A shooting range that has operated without a conditional use permit for more than a year in the Ada County foothills received the county’s first stamp of approval last week.
The Ada County Planning and Zoning Commission voted 4-3 to approve a conditional use permit and master site plan for land located at 2250 W. Ourada Ranch Rd., with commissioners James Burch, Brenda Blitman, and Rod Wickstrum voting in opposition. Ada County Spokesperson Brianna Bustos said that technically, the commissioners will take a second vote to approve the application at their next hearing in December. Because approval went against county staff’s recommendations, staff are working to revise their findings to reflect approval ahead of a December vote, she said.
The property’s owner, Seven Gates Investments, L.P., received a notice from the Ada County Prosecutor’s Office in May that it would be required to apply for the CUP and master site plan or face a civil lawsuit if the business Valiance Firearms Training continued operating on the property, as BoiseDev reported.
