The Dimond Volleyball team earned our Alaska Athlete of the Week honors after winning four consecutive elimination matches before beating Colony 30-20 in an if-necessary super set to claim the Class 4A state championship at the Alaska Airlines Center.
The Lynx also beat Colony in five hard-fought sets to force the if-necessary game after topping Chugiak in five close sets to stay alive in the double-elimination tournament.
