Numerous drugs seized in Albany traffic stop

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)– A Bronx man was arrested on drug charges Tuesday, after a traffic stop in Albany. According to the Albany County Sheriff’s Office, a large amount of drugs was reportedly found in Desmond Williams’ car.

Deputies said around 7:55 p.m., the 51-year-old was stopped on I-787 for a traffic violation. Upon the stop and a search of the car, deputies reported finding numerous narcotics in the car, including:

  • 1.5 pounds of crystal methamphetamine
  • 22 grams of fentanyl
  • 20.5 grams of cocaine

According to the sheriff’s office, investigators ruled the narcotics were to be intended for sale and distribution, based on its weight and packaging.

Williams was charged with second degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and three counts of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was also issued traffic violations.

Deputies said Williams was transported to the Albany County Correctional Facility as a pre-arraign detainee. He is expected to be arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court on Wednesday…
