Goo Goo Dolls Bring Hits and New Tunes to NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert

Buffalo’s own Goo Goo Dolls recently graced the intimate stage of NPR Music’s Tiny Desk for a special four-song set, treating fans to a mix of their iconic hits and a glimpse into their upcoming work. The performance, which dropped on November 19th, featured two beloved tracks from their 1998 quintuple-platinum album, Dizzy Up the Girl.

NPR Music rolled out the welcome mat for “Buffalo’s finest” as the band, celebrating their 40th anniversary, continues to captivate audiences. The current lineup, featuring longtime members John Rzeznik (lead vocalist and guitarist) and Robby Takac (bassist and vocalist), along with Jimmy McGorman on keys, piano, and backing vocals, Brad Fernquist on guitar and mandolin, and Craig Macintyre on drums, delivered a memorable performance.

The set kicked off with “Slide,” one of Dizzy Up the Girl‘s four top ten hits. They then transitioned to “Feel the Silence” from their 2006 album, Let Love In, followed by “Not Goodbye (Close My Eyes),” a track slated for their August 2025 release, Summer Anthem.

Naturally, the concert culminated with the timeless anthem “Iris.” Originally penned for the City of Angels soundtrack and also featured on Dizzy Up the Girl, the song has recently experienced a renewed surge in popularity thanks to its inclusion in last year’s film Deadpool & Wolverine.
