Running on Empty: UTC Students Struggle With Rising Food Prices on Campus

Food prices at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga have become a daily frustration for many students, shaping not only their eating habits but also their academic performance. As costs at on-campus markets continue to rise, some students are choosing to go without meals, while others are leaving campus entirely to find more affordable options.

For sophomore McKenna White, a quick snack between classes has turned into a financial dilemma. She explained that even simple treats such as ice cream feel unreasonably expensive at the POD Market.

“I’d rather drive to Walmart and waste gas than go to the POD Market for ice cream,” White said. “They’re practically double in price.”…
