University of Cincinnati (UC) students are concerned with the reliability of mobile alerts from UC Public Safety following a recent shooting in Corryville. Students said no alerts were dispatched when shots were fired less than three blocks from campus on Short Vine Street, just before 3 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025.
“I did hear about the shootings and got messages from a friend saying, ‘watch out’ and ‘stay indoors,’” said Molly Torossian, a second-year business major at UC. “I don’t recall getting a UC alert and it freaked me out.”
