Spartanburg Co. deputies asking for information regarding 42-year-old cold case

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office reports it is continuing to investigate a cold case from 1983.

Officials said the body of Carolyn Potter was found in her residence on Hillside Park in Campobello on Aug. 15, 1983. She was beaten to death.

According to officials, Potter and her husband, Hollie Potter, had recently moved to Campobello from North Carolina after he got a job at the Inman quarry. The couple lived in this location for about a week before the murder. Hollie was at work during the time of Carolyn’s murder, placing her home alone. Their mobile home did not have power yet.

Deputies would like to talk to anyone who lived in the neighborhood during the time of the murder…
