Music Mogul, Accused Murderer’s Request to Attend Slain Son’s Funeral Denied

Eugene “Big U” Henley, who has prosecutors say continues to use his notorious standing as a reputed former leader of the Rollin’ 60’s Crips gang while behind bars, using other inmates’ phone credits and scheming with a woman they call a “girlfriend” to become a paralegal for private visits, will not be allowed to attend his son’s funeral.

Last week Henley pleaded with a judge to allow him a temporary release so he could attend Islamic services for his eldest son Jabari Henley, who was gunned down on Halloween night in a still unsolved slaying in South Los Angeles. The 34-year-old victim was the brother of Los Angeles Chargers NFL linebacker Daiyan Henley, who brought his team to a win a day after he lost Jabari to gunshots.

The government opposed Henley’s motion, pointing to accused racketeer’s alleged activities while being held without bail at the Metropolitan Detention Center in DTLA. Federal prosecutors say allowing Henley out, even for a single day for his son’s funeral, would pose a grave safety risk…
