The Sacramento County Environmental Management Department conducted strict inspections across restaurants on November 18. Health officials cited violations at King Palace and My Tho Vietnamese Cuisine. Both restaurants received a yellow placard following the inspection.
King Palace

King Palace offers Chinese dishes, including King Jellyfish Cold Platter, Wonton Soup, Salt & Pepper Fillet Fish, and Shrimp Dumplings.
The violations documented in the report are as mentioned below:
- A plate of cooked Yao Choi was found at the rice noodle prep station when the inspectors arrived.
- One bus bin of chicken feet and another of pork cutlets showed direct contamination due to heavy ice condensation. The report stated that this was due to leakage from the evaporation unit in the King Palace’s walk-in freezer.
- Two expired employees’ food handler cards were found at the Sacramento facility.
- An employee’s tea drink was left on the beverage station’s counter at the Chinese eatery.
- An excessive black mold growth was noted on the plastic components of the ice machine.
- Several broken plastic bus bins were being used to store food at King Palace.
- According to the report, several containers of uncovered food were found in the 2-door upright freezer.
- Many uncovered bins of food were seen in the walk-in freezer of the Sacramento facility.
- A pre-packaged turkey item was stored over a vanilla ice cream box inside King Palace’s chest freezer.
- A squeeze bottle with a blue chemical solution on the floor under the kitchen’s 3-compartment sink lacked a label. The report added that spray bottles with chemical solution on the floor under the beverage station’s 3-compartment sink lacked labels.
- Heavy oil residue was observed on the storage rack next to the ice machine at the Chinese food facility. The report also mentioned dusty fan guards, multiple cobwebs, and old food accumulation in different areas of King Palace.
- Expired sanitizer test strips and a lack of sanitizer in the sanitation bucket were added to the report.
- A leakage was found in the 3-compartment sink faucet inside the Sacramento eatery’s kitchen. Plus, multi-use wiping towels were stored on the counter throughout King Palace’s kitchen area.
- The report stated that there was no air gap for the ice machine drain line.
- A water leak was noted by the health inspectors at the hot water knob in the Chinese facility’s beverage prep/service area.
- According to the report, the restroom doors were propped open at King Palace.
- The wall near the kitchen’s 3-compartment prep sink was found to be damaged. The report added that the ceiling wall paint was peeling above the hot water heater in the hot water room.
- Several broken floor tiles were found in the main cook line at King Palace. As per the report, there were also many missing floor tiles under the stove and BBQ oven.
- A shellfish tank in the Sacramento facility was holding live fish, clams, and crabs without a HACCP plan. The report added that King Palace’s water tank with the water filtration system was installed without Plan Review’s approval.
