After eight years at Galaxy Communications Rock “K-Rock” 94.9 WKLL Frankfort/100.9 WKRL-FM North Syracuse/106.5 WKRH Fair Haven NY, Jamie ‘Big Smoothie’ Hantke has exited as afternoon host.
Hantke joined the stations in 2017 as a weekend host before moving up to afternoons in 2020. He previously had two stints at Cumulus Media’s “95X” WAQX from 2001-06 and 2009-17. In an Instagram video last week he stated, “I was informed today that I am no longer employed at K-Rock and was let go. I want to be totally honest with you: I’m at peace right now. It’s a strange feeling. I have done so many things inside of a business that I’ve been told so many times I didn’t belong in. I’ve been told many times I was not good enough to do what we were doing in radio.”
