ELKTON — A man who pointed a handgun at a man, his wife and the couple’s two-year-old daughter during a road-rage incident on a highway near Elkton in May received a four-year prison term on Monday (Nov. 10) after accepting a plea deal, according to Cecil County Circuit Court records.
Cecil County Circuit Court Administrative Judge Brenda A. Sexton imposed a 20-year sentence on the defendant — Javoughn Colin Berbick, 27, of Elkton — for first-degree assault and then suspended 16 years of the penalty, court records show.
Earlier in the courtroom proceeding, Berbick pleaded guilty to first-degree assault, which is punishable by up to 25 years in prison, as part of a plea agreement reached by Assistant State’s Attorney Nicole Owens and Berbick’s defense lawyer, Michael J. Halter, according to court records…
