Baltimore youth fund failed to submit required financial audits to city, IG report finds

BALTIMORE (WBFF) — The Baltimore City Department of Audits has no record of receiving a financial audit from the taxpayer-backed Baltimore Children and Youth Fund from fiscal years 2022, 2023 and 2024, according to a new report from the Baltimore City Inspector General released Wednesday.

The finding follows more than a year of investigative reports from Spotlight on Maryland about long-running concerns about how the nonprofit manages millions in taxpayer dollars. Despite receiving $16 million this fiscal year, guaranteed by the city charter, BCYF has operated for years without submitting the key financial audits or being subject to routine performance reviews.
