ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — The Alamance County Detention Center will no longer accept Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainees, according to a news release from the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office.
In a certified letter, Alamance County Sheriff Terry Johnson notified ICE that, effective Nov. 16, 2025, the ACDC will no longer house and transport ICE detainees, citing recent changes to North Carolina law following North Carolina House Bill 307, known as Iryna’s Law, regarding pretrial release, electronic monitoring and detention of individuals charged with violent offenses, taking effect on Dec. 1, 2025.
