Houston DEA reports major surge in meth seizures

HOUSTON, Texas — The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency’s Houston field office says the number of methamphetamine seizures this year is four times as many as in 2024.

Deputy Special Agent in Charge Brian Leardo told KHOU 11 that cartels are shifting their strategy as U.S. law enforcement intensifies its focus on fentanyl.

“The cartels are looking to make money and they’re looking to pivot to the next thing, which is methamphetamine,” Leardo said…
