Druff’s offers free meals to residents impacted by SNAP cuts

When local residents began losing their SNAP benefits, Druff’s — a downtown Springfield restaurant known for its grilled cheeses and breakfast dishes — quietly opened its doors to anyone who needed a free meal. Owner Kenny McMahon, who has worked at the restaurant since 2021 and purchased it in July 2024, said the motivation behind the program was straightforward.

“I just thought that people deserve a free meal,” McMahon said.
