All Our Favorite Pies in Honolulu

Anna Miller’s Restaurant

One of the biggest perks of my recent move to ‘Aiea is my proximity to Anna Miller’s and its case of heavenly fresh-baked pies. And try as I might to push myself to order something different, I always come back to its iconic fresh strawberry pie, which layers a mound of giant glazed whole strawberries with luscious custard and a ring of thick whipped cream. Swoon! It’s a seasonal flavor (usually available March through September/October), so you can only get a full-sized pie close to summer, but you can scoop up just as drool-worthy miniature, single serving versions year-round. —Brie Thalmann, HONOLULU home + style editor

Big Island Candies

I’m a huge fan of Big Island Candies’ ready-to-bake apple pie. The crust is perfectly buttery and flaky, and the apples have just the right sweetness. It used to be a hidden gem only at KTA Hilo, but now you can find it on O‘ahu at the company’s Ala Moana store and at select local markets (Don Quijote and Foodland Farms) or even order it for shipping. —Michelle Okada, HONOLULU Magazine

Epi-Ya Boulangerie & Patisserie

When I think of the holidays, pie has a mandatory spot on the table. If I feel like braving the line, Epi-Ya’s fuji apple and custard pies are for the pie purists. Classic, buttery crusts with slightly sweetened fillings just make the holidays feel complete. —Thomas Obungen, HONOLULU special projects editor
