Charleston County Library unveils ‘listening booth’ for incarcerated stories

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – The Charleston County Public Library will unveil its newest installation that gives a voice to those who have experienced incarceration.

“The Listening Booth” uses several forms of media to tell the stories of former inmates and their family members.

“Libraries are community anchors, but they’re also places where difficult conversations and human stories can unfold in ways that bring people together,” Library spokesperson Melissa Tunstall said. “The Listening Booth reminds us that storytelling can be both a tool for healing and a bridge for understanding.”…
