SMITHS STATION, Ala. (WTVM) – A Lee County sheriff’s deputy and another driver escaped serious injury Wednesday when a vehicle struck the rear of a patrol car during traffic control operations on US Highway 280.
The collision occurred near the intersection of Lee Road 456 where deputies were directing traffic around a garbage truck fire, according to Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones.
