The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) has released information about the investigation into the November 4, 2024, homicide of Paris Powe. On November 18, 2025, Norris Deshane Baker, 35, was arraigned on several charges. These include five counts of felony firearm, assault with intent to murder, two counts of armed robbery, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Magistrate Mark Holsomback denied bond for Baker.
Baker was on parole at the time of the incident. After the shooting, he left Michigan and was arrested in Harris County, Texas, on December 20, 2024.
