Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, and Tennessee Under Severe Storm Watch: Tornadoes, 2-Inch Hail, and 65 MPH Winds Possible Tonight

ILLINOIS – A severe storm watch has been issued for parts of Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, and Tennessee through 10 p.m. Central, as powerful thunderstorms build across the Mid-South this evening. Forecasters warn that some storms could turn dangerous quickly, producing tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds.

The Storm Prediction Center highlights this watch area as capable of a couple of tornadoes, hail up to two inches in diameter, and wind gusts up to 65 mph — all possible within a fast-moving line of storms sweeping eastward tonight.

Severe Weather Zone Stretches Across Four States

The new watch covers a broad corridor from Cape Girardeau, Missouri, through Paducah, Kentucky, and into northwest Tennessee near Murray and Huntingdon, extending west into southeast Missouri and northeast Arkansas near Blytheville.
