Alabama‘s Congressional delegation held a moment of silence Wednesday to honor the life of Lt. Col. George E. Hardy, the last surviving combat pilot of the Tuskegee Airmen.
Hardy died on September 25 at the age of 100 and was a veteran of three wars and 136 combat mission. He was the youngest Red Tail fighter pilot to fly his first solo combat mission over Europe as a Tuskegee Airman, which he did at 19.
