Georgia Scam Alert Today: Fake Deputy Calls Demand Money for “Warrants”

Savannah, GA – The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about an active phone scam in which callers impersonate deputies and attempt to pressure victims into paying fake fees for warrants, missed jury duty, or ankle monitor violations. Officials say the scam has resurfaced this week and is targeting households across the county.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, scammers are spoofing caller IDs to appear legitimate before demanding immediate payment, often through prepaid cards, digital transfers, or other untraceable methods. Deputies stressed that no member of the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office will ever call a resident to demand money of any kind
