After already witnessing thousands of students drop off the public school rolls in the first week of classes, the Palm Beach County School District saw enrollment dip further by the time a state-required count happened in October. That second count showed several schools to be down by dozens additional students compared with the earlier count.
Overall, the district’s October count showed enrollment at district-operated elementary, middle and high schools to be 158,541, down by 649 students from a count conducted on the 11th day of the school year.
Here’s a look at the schools with the biggest enrollment drops since August:
- Lake Worth High: total enrollment of 2,457, down 62 students since August.
- Forest Hill High: total enrollment of 1,856, down 59 students.
- Santaluces High: total enrollment of 2383, down 49 students.
- Palm Springs Middle: total enrollment of 1,300, down 38 students.
- West Boca High: total enrollment of 2,266, down by 30 students.
- Palm Beach Gardens High: total enrollment of 2,261, down by 26 students.
- Palm Beach Lakes High: total enrollment of 2,771, down by 22 students.
