CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — South Texans who rely on Affordable Care Act health insurance plans could be facing steep premium increases in January as Congress’ temporary funding deal allows key pandemic-era subsidies to expire.
The subsidies, approved in 2021, expanded financial assistance to households earning more than four times the federal poverty level. But with the continuing resolution passed earlier this month, those supports are set to lapse and President Donald Trump has indicated he does not plan to push for an extension.
