JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – In South Jackson, concerns are growing as more businesses close or relocate, including the anticipated closure of the Food Depot on Terry Road.
Jackson City Councilwoman Lashia Brown-Thomas, Ward 6, said she and other leaders have met with the store’s owner, but with the closure likely, the city is focused on attracting another grocery store to serve South Jackson residents.
“We’re going to have to bring a grocery store. We’re going to have to have a grocery store, because the next one is the Walmart on 18 or the Walmart in Byram, Kroger in Byram. And we want to keep our dollars inside of Jackson,” she said.
