LAFAYETTE, LA. (KLFY) — Lafayette’s noise-control ordinance has one council member voicing concern.
City councilman Elroy Broussard explained that it’s time to be tougher in holding property owners accountable said said the ordinance is there. He said the ordinance, in terms of penalties for property owners, needs to be clearer and have some “teeth.”
“We can write an ordinance so long that you can misunderstand what the intentions are. It can be either or. It needs to be clear and understood that if you are called on a noise ordinance X amount of times, one or two times, that you are in violation and it needs to be corrected. Everybody wants to have a peaceful night’s sleep. You can’t be having noise at one, two, or 3:00 in the morning,” Broussard stated…
